Baby's Breath First Annual Spring Stroll A Success!

(Westborough, MA, May 2007) - The very successful First Annual Spring Stroll for Baby's Breath was held on April 28, 2007, at the Westborough High School track and throughout the downtown area. Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Cares, the charity foundation of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, hosted the event with all proceeds benefiting Baby's Breath, Inc. Over 250 'strollers' came out to enjoy an afternoon of fun and games. Co-Chairpersons, Teresa Rafferty, and newly elected state representative, Jim O'Day spoke about Baby's Breath and the need for greater support for displaced infants and toddlers.

Baby's Breath is a pilot program that seeks to help the most vulnerable population in our society; high-risk infants under the supervision of the Department of Social Services. The youngest victims of the child welfare system are likely to suffer the worst outcomes. Research shows that multiple foster care placements, particularly when taking place prior to the age of three, invariably causes attachment disorder and other related mental illnesses. Attachment disorder inhibits these high-risk babies from ever forming healthy attachments later in life; the foundation for successful participation in society.

Baby's Breath is committed to providing a consistent home environment for displaced infants and toddlers, developmental interventions and establishing permanency with a healed biological or adoptive family in order to minimize the long-term effects of attachment disorder associated with multiple placements of infants in the foster care system.
